Uni design policy says 'logo must be top left' of pages
hit me with it, thoughts?
..only a front page at the moment ,..how can i create those rounded corners as trasparent .gifs, without it having that rough white pixel edge (..see the bit im talking about?)
- designerror0
the rounded corners would look better a little smaller imo, but not sure how they are done as you ask for
- designerror0
oh, and if Uni design policy allows it you should get rid of the box around the logo, then it might fit in better that way
- Hym0
change the gif matte color when you'r saving it to the other color, but then you will for example have a rough gray pixel edge.
gif only has 1bit transparency
png has 8bit alpha channelthe site.. rounded corners and gradient, a bit outdated
- blackspade0
u cant touch the logo or u get spanked
please remember I am dealing with 'older' lecturers, if u look at the old site maybe you will go easy on me,
http://www.otago.ac.nz/marinesci…I have made changes according to their requests, so im sure u all understand hw that goes
- blackspade0
how can i make it less out-dated then ?
:?

I think the size of the corners are fine. If you don't want the white around the edges make the corners so they aren't anti-aliased. That would do it.
- blackspade0
ill try that ornj

outdated is maybe the wrong word but the layout and elements look like the period when CSS got popular, everything suddenly had rounded corners.
the layout lacks contrast and it seems all uninspired but of course compared to the original it's progress, Kinda strange that you ask for the rounded corners while the middle column is using a transparent png,,.
might you be ripping off some other site ?

hym... the conspiracist!
i wouldn't call it 'dated'.. but I'd call it 'boring' and flimsy.
flimsy meaning - nothing feels tied together at all. I'm not feeling a composition here - i'm feeling raw data w/a few rounded corners.
It feels like a 'medium' if you were to supply a 'small' and 'large' version. :) Medium meaning - in the middle... but better than the 'small' (where it was before).

wtf i didnt rip a site fella
built from ground up :P
*flips the bird
I was experimenting with the PNG in the centre, doesnt work IE PC

yea must admit Pony i havent put my heart and soul into it, but time-frames & workload are a mo-fo
- Hym0
all fine, just a question on the possibility. not accusing you.
PNG doesn't natively work in IE you have to add some javascript. look it up in google.

I've had it a while... now I'm trying to figure out wtf to do with it. :)

cheers hym, ill try it
seems weird that a javascript would fix somthing like that ?
- Hym0
javascript itself is not really fixing it.
IE has some weird ass visual effects, no other browser supportsthough so nobody uses it. One of the effects can mask an image. Javascript simply access those that effect.

that sounds like a lot work to make one browser happy.
