chucks would last about 6 kickflips before you broke the laces and wore holes in them.

rowleys have no lace protection. that was my biggest beef when I had them. Most skateshoes don't. I used to break laces like no other. Kind of a pain in the ass but the earlier rowleys felt nice. not too bulky.

you know, my 2 cents, skateshoes are just a rip off, too expensive and they don't last long at all. and they smell really worse after use, even more worse than chucks (which says enough really).

I bought a pair of es' Kostons a few weeks ago and they're great. My Duffs Hensleys have lasted me about 6 months so I'd also recommend those if you can still get hold of them.
