What's the learning curve on this? Here's an email I got, and was wondering if I should take it on:

easy these days
http://www.amfphp.org/but the guy emailing you doesn't sound like he knows much about anything related

She's the president of a web development firm in NYC and NJ so yeah =)

yeah... it's not difficult to do... but the person that should really be researching it is your php dude... cuz he's the backend guy (at least it sounds like you're the artist and he's the coder)...
... I say you find it way to make his problem. :)

This is a side freelance thing, so I don't have access to one =/

if you are familiar/experienced at handling medium-sized data sets, then this should be nothing out of the ordinary for you. they give you a URL that is either a text string of variables or an xml document.
you parse and manipulate your visual objects based off of the values. you don't have to know anything about php at all in this case.
however, if you are more a designer who uses flash to tween their animations or switch button states, the learning curve will be pretty steep.
could be a good chance to learn on someone else's dime.

Here's some more info:
Cool! Basically in one of the areas inside the flash (possible on top in the
white boxed area) we'd need to pull in a php file as a source file. Essentially this should really be just some sort of "include" almost like an
iframe if you will. The functionality of the php will be handled outside of
the flash, so no php itself is needed, just the inclusion of it. I am guessing (for someone who's done this) this shouldn't' be a hard task to do
- however I could be wrong. If you find someone we'd just need to know how much they charge for this, and pass it on to the client. How much should be changed for this? How difficult does this sound?

typo
How much should be "charged" for this?

ask a better defined technical explanation of the flash side problem. Preferably from someone that actually knows what they are trying to do.
Sounds like their Php Flash programmer just doesn't know AMFPHP and too lazy to do it with xml parsing. I'm guessing the flash side is a day work tops even if you still have to figure out remoting.
