...our occupation is a dam rollercoaster; mad work one minute, stressing where the next paycheck is coming from the next;

job security is immaterial. it doesn't exsist in any real way.

in this situation, i'm pointing towards the sole factor of clientele -
i mean face it, if it were up to us, we would all be bosses, fuck our current boss, we would run shit- and u know what? that could def. happen; HOWEVER... it boils down to 3 aspects;
1. equipment
2.passion for what u do
3. clientele.i would bet $$$ that about 99% of the people in here have the first 2- #3 is always the most elusive.

securing clients is half the challenge! Now that I'm newly self-employed, I'm looking down avenues I didn't even dream of, to connect with potential clients. I'm broke as a joke, but looking forward to getting out there (awaiting business cards as we speak)
I was tired of the secure job. That was way too easy.

oh man, my boss freaked on me big time today. i was just frustrated and he told me not to take "that" tone with him. i said i'm just frustrated, and then the yelling began. job security is kinda wishy washy. uh oh.

i've been working as a consultant/contractor for the past 4yrs pretty steady.
at the current gig, it's been over a year and it can go pretty much forever if i want to.
i think the success depends on your passion/drive, ability to think strategically and being able to communicate clearly.

I've been at a full time job for the past 6 months and sometimes it's very busy, some late nights, etc. i dont mind those - time flys. but when it's real quiet is when i hate it. just have to sit here and read NT. damn!
