since its acceesory, its very hard to keep up. and turn over in brand is very quick in retail. also, your brand is not widely accepted yet, so it maybe harder keep them coming back for the next season buy.
have you guys thought about Pool Show?
than again, if you are selling to a chain in US, you just lost that boutique exclusive edge
- jdcomba0
could still do pool. big brands do pool right? i thinkso?
- ********0
they do for their exclusive or boutique lines but not main stream
- ********0
even pool is loosing its edge..
i rather just deal with producers..
- MerchMikey0
We are soooooo not mainstream. Urbans is only orderring 3 of the cardcase models. They will blow through them and move onto the next thing.

unless u are the small producer or exclusive distributor in to other makets, pool might be fun
also its more globalized now, so pool can help u get in to asian market
- jdcomba0
yeah, i'm over it. i pretty much missed this whole thread, but i really am getting sick of...
hi, i'm johnny, just moved to nyc to start a tshirt company, like it's a fucking tshirt, i'm over it.

every brand that was sub-stream will become main stream esp in accessroies. since like i have said, turn over in accessories in very high

i know he just recently picked up Corpus... not sure the story behind that.
i guess the Alife stuff is doing really well for him... he's still looking for new brands to distribute and he's not the type to whore it out to just anyone... he's very consious of how that can kill a brand fast.
- jdcomba0
a bathing ape
prime example. say bye bye to that whole thing.

dont get me wrong, shops like Corpus is doing well selling mainly Ts. cause their cut is not well known or tested and tried.
the buyers are hestinen to buy in to it.
just gotta keep thinking about new line to counter the mainstream-ization
i am alreayd getting S/S 2006 stuff for showing
- jdcomba0
but then look at a brand like stussy.
- ********0
yeah 2cents
for these designer underground-ish stuff, its cut thoat.
everyone is trying to find that next small brand that will make it big and be exclusive at it, while the bigger distributor waits and sees for the hot thing to take away from the smaller distributor and Kills the brand..
i bought 5 Corpus shirts, ask ur friend if i can get a discount on it. paid WAY too much for them. ($80 a T)
- jdcomba0
oh no $80 a T? dinky, it's a tshirt! what would your mother say. or better yet, your grandmother.
dinky, get me a switch.
- 2cents0
will do... i plan to ask for myself too!, i need to head over and see him soon.
its funny, he had the opportunity to be the exclusive CDN distributor for Volcom back in the mid 90's and he thought the stuff was so whack that it would never take off... lets just say he's kicking himself huge now seeing how big they got.

stussy has been around longer
they basically have two generalized lines.
one for everyday fuckers
one for rich undergourndish fuckersthey also play with their brand alot.
there was a point where, stussy's brand was dying cause they exhausted their distribution and started to low ball the quality and design.
they pulled it back and started to sell high end over priced stuff. and also lower end stuff.
it worked but the brand is still weaker than what it was before
think of Gucci before Tom Ford, they licensed their brand out to everything. the brand lost its value. T Ford brought the brand back by cancelling and buying licenses back and creating ONLY high end. over night they just trands formed thier brand.
FUCK i sound like fucken brand fucken manger who is talking out his / her ass
- spent20000
Shaun Stussy sold the company years ago and bought himself an island!
- ********0
volcom has two main distributors like Diesel
i think their model works cause they hace wider appeal to their market and product range / line
yeah volcom just BLEW up in last 3 years to mainstream

look at Chip & Pepper!... from fuckin shit ass tie dye shirts to now selling 300 dollar denim.
- ********0
well chip and pepper was a good shit back than..
they faded and now fading again cause they failed to re-invent tehm selves as they brought back line.
they got their break again after be friending some stylists in hollywood to wear some exclusive jeans.
if yuo go to stores, many stopped carrying C&P and are on sale..
when your product is in Winners, you are not moving your product fast
