you'll inevitablely run into the Fourth of July celebrations which generally occur off some barge in the rivers. Not sure where they are doing it this year..?

i am gonna be out of town from 2nd so if you wanna meet up, it would the 1st but i need to check my schedule.
there's so much to do in new york. i'd say spend first 2-3 days hitting all the tourist spots, then you just walk around. you'll meet people anywhere and probably have some surprises.

Hit up Boat Basin on 79th street and the Hudson River, which is as far west as you can go. Great happy hour spot.
You'll def see some fireworks there too.
