football inspiration...HELP!

okay guys, anyone care to help out a non-football fan who has to design an invitation for the 49ers annual kick-off luncheon? (i know, i know. 49ers...yuck, yuck, yuck!) but i'm a solo designer in a very un-creative office so even help with football terms to use for headlines and whatnot would be appreciated (since the copy i was provided doesn't go beyond 'go niners!' this is aimed at football fans so HELLO FOOTBALL FANS! please help a girl out.) try to focus on the football part and not the 49ers part (especially not recent issues though i know it would be sooooo easy to go there)....have fun, go crazy. think rebuilding, fresh start, etc. please!

avoid use of tacky cliche's. make one reference to 'the gridiron' in the headline and then just make it look nice.

i was trying to google some images but no luck. my grandparents had one of those things, the figurines poses were the best part.

i had one when i was a kid. the thing was awesome but it drove my parents nuts to the point that one night my dad walked over and stomped on the playing field, thus creating a whole that even my best running back couldn't escape. ruined it. i cried.

i kind of like the antique toy idea. i've been told i have to focus on the brand (that wonderful - ha! - oval logo) and stay away from the players....nice. maybe i need to go type only....
i actually like kOna's idea (one track mind, huh, doug?), but probably not a good direction considering their recent troubles....but still funny.
oh, this will sound stupid, but what's a 'gridiron'? (stop laughing...i know it's a football thing but why?)
