is it worth it ? I run a pc, but would love to have the choice.. for the price, I couldn't really go wrong.. or could I ?
I'd like to hear your opinions on this subject. Who has one ?

just say no to Mac if you are BROKE
- brains0
haha. shhh. I'm not really broke. that's just a front to get a job.. I swear.
nah dinky, this is future planning. Tax write off's and whatnot, I want a powerbook buuuut.. bling, bling.

if you are interested in getting a mac but dont want to fork out for the ludicrous PB prices - then you really can't go wrong with a mac mini mate
- smith_barry0
I agree with Jevard...
One of my colleagues just got one and I have to say it rocks... he went from a G4 tower with a massive monitor to a flat-screen, bluetooth keyboard & mouse Mac Mini and, from a space point of view, he now has 50% more of it on his desk...
As for the machine itself I have to say that it is as good as getting a new tower... or a Powerbook for that matter... quick and easy to use as you would expect from a Mac and, for the price, you can't go wrong.
Alas, I am stuck with a poxy eMac... it sucketh...

I got one 1.5 ghz
80 gig
maxed out the ram 1 gig
got a flat screen 17 inch
keyboard and mouse
all for = £ 680
I love it.

damn chossy !
that's like 1200 bucks here though.. but all things considered, a powerbook is like 2.5 times that much. I guess the only thing with the powerbook is, when the band goes on tour, I can still work / earn money whilst I'm doing it, and a big tour is in the works.
- chossy0
Get a powerbook then you silly bananna if you want to work on the road then the only choice is a lap top.
- brains0
I know, I know.. I don't know if I'm just creating the necessity though.. I don't even know if I could get work done on the road.

.. you know, with all the booze, girls, and drugs.

ha ha yeah it's tricky man I remember one time when I was rocking with the blizzard me and him used to jam real real hard on the old ibooks but once the horse tooko hold well neither of us could use that track pad again and the women just closed the lid on the whole thing.

I think for the 'home-office' - thats the way to go!
Thinking of getting shut of my old G3 and iMac, big CRT screen. I dont need anything supa dupa for video editing etc. so the mac mini seems the way to go.
Although, whith the 'nice' weather (at the moment) I like the idea of a PB on the sun lounger!

(Jun 28 05, 03:50)I don't know all the details off the top of my head. I'll send you an email with the spec later on this evening.
Both have osx 10.3 installed and will work fine with illustrator.

DavidFelt, I was looking on ebay and there is some nice cheap macs on there.
I know my old mac is worth very little in terms of money. But as I explained yesterday, I'm looking to replace it with a mac mini, so I want to recover some of the money to go towards a new one.
Oh, and I am also a tight twat!
The price of macs are coming down in price all the time, which is good if you want a new one, but if you are trying to sell an old one, you are in the shit.
I think I might take a leaf out of your book and have a look at some secondhand stuff.

you have to know, the Mac Mini plastic cracks when it get hot and all the paint dissapear on it. it melt too. someone said it can explode if you run more than 3 programs at the same time.
