I've been "commisioned" to sort out some sort of graphic for a friend's sister's wedding's table layout. Any links or ideas would be really appreciated, as i'm not sure how i should start off.

i'm not sure what you're designing for them.
are you designing the arrangement on the tops of each table? i.e. flowers, candels, cardholder...
a little more info.

if it's for like where people will be seating, the restaurant business usually has good ways to do this. table diagrams and whatnot

no, sorry, i'm doing an A1 poster/print showing the layout of the tables, and where the guests are sitting. I havn't got all the details yet, speaking to them next week, but she seems to want some sort of clear diagram,but something "different" not just "boring lines", with some "funky stuff" round the edge.
As i say, i need to talk to them next week.

get some waterpaper and stain it with tea then draw the seating arrangement with a nibbed ink pen, next burn around some of the edges and add some small rips/tears. bury it in the mud in your back garden for a week then dig it up to HEY PRESTO ..... a TREASURE MAP STYLEE WEDDING SEAT PLAN!!

I had to do that for my wedding last year. Keep all elderly folks and parenst far away from speakers or band, etc. but close enough to the head table.

also I dont know if you are doing the table pieces, but me wife bought square glass containers, (clear ones) and planted wheatgrass in them. She then took flowers with the stems cut off and placed them on top randomly. its cheap.

on the layout indicate males as penises with bowties and females as big breats with a corsage in the middle.
class it up a bit is all i'm saying.
