Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions on the 2 July 2005
The City of Edinburgh Council has today announced the road closures and
traffic restrictions relating to the Make Poverty History march on 2
July.They are:
Roads closed between 2100 hours on 1 July 2005 and 0600 hours on 3 July
2005Princes Street from its junction with The Mound to its junction with
South Charlotte Street.Roads closed between 0600 hours and 2200 hours on 2 July 2005
Melville Drive.
Roads closed between 0600 hours and 1900 hours on 2 July 2005
Forrest Road, George IV Bridge southbound carriageway / northbound
carriageway from its junction with Forrest Road to its junction with
Victoria Street, northbound carriageway from its junction with Victoria
Street to Lawnmarket (except for coaches),Bank Street, North Bank Street, The Mound, Princes Street from its
junction with South St David's Street to its junction with The
Mound/from its junction with Lothian Road to its junction with South
Charlotte Street,Lothian Road from its junction with Princes Street to its junction with
West Approach Road,Castle Terrace, Spittal Street from its junction with Johnston Terrace
to its junction with Grindlay Street,Lady Lawson Street, Lauriston Place from its junction with Teviot Place
to its junction with Lauriston Street,Chalmers Street, Summerhall (except for access),
Hope Park Terrace (except for access),

to Waverley Station (excluding taxis).Councillor Andrew Burns, Executive Member for Transport and the Public
Realm said, "The Make Poverty History event will be the largest public
march seen in Edinburgh for decades. Inevitably that means considerable
traffic disruption. However, the life and business of the city will
still go on so people should think ahead, plan their journey carefully
and give themselves a little extra time."A Council spokesman added, "These traffic orders apply only to the event
on Saturday, July 2. Other events later in the week will also result in
road closures or restrictions. Details of these will be available over
the next week."
