I have a TextInput component within a popup window component and it's not showing the updated text in the field. When I try to set the value of the field via actionscript (textinput.text = "something") I can retrieve the value using a trace, but it doesn't show up visually in the inputtext box.
Anyone know how to fix this?
thanks!

If html is enabled on it, you gotta use textFieldName.htmlText. In general steer clear of components unless you wrote 'em or are building over your head.

It's not html enabled. I'm using components for a consistent look and feel across the application and to avoid building the same object over and over again. The problem is only happening when the textinput field is inside a window object...

Can you get it to work outside that window thing? If so it sounds like a pathing issue. Trial and error tracefest 2005 coming up.

It works fine outside the window, and I can retrieve the correct value with a trace command, but the text box isn't updating visually.

has the dynamic txt box that is meant to show the inputted value got a font embedded with it? ie: have you specified a font for the box but not selected that the numerals and characters are embedded? if you have make sure the colour is correct.
i had a similar problem when i hadn't embedded the font so basically there was no way the txt could show.

figured it out, for those who're curious, I was trying to set the text field in the load event of the window. the text input object had a slight delay in loading so it wasn't technically there when I was trying to set it. I attached the set command to the onload of the text input object and that fixed it up!
