The fan in my powerbook seems really loud recently... i remember it wasnt like this before cus i remember asking why my friends powerbook is so loud (like how it is with mine now).... is it because of dust and such? can i fix it somehow?

a really strong magnet should do the trick.
blow some canned air lightly through the back. it's probably dust.

i think death might be the only answer....
but seriously, sounds like that fan might be on it's way out. you'll probably need to get it replaced.

no, it's not really normal...although fans are prone to die.
or...something is caught in it...like a wire or something.

well its not REALLY loud. but i can hear it. i remember before i couldn't really hear the fan at all, and now its not like its squeaking or anything but its definitely louder than before..
