architecture? that was the last thing I was lookin at when I was in Maui. Grab a board and hit the waves/beach. Go to 'dig me beach' for some tight speedo action... haha

I'm going in october and staying in Hama. A bunch of friends just bought houses nexto to each other (by next I mean miles apart) over there.
Maui is the most relaxing place Ive ever been. Go do the "road to hama" thing and jump off as many waterfalls as you can. I think it starts at napili bay and goes all the way around one side of the island. There's a cool bamboo forest hike, too. Bring bug spray. a change of clothes, and baby whipes when you go, tho.

Take the boat out to Molokini and go snorkelling
Take the road to Hana
If you're staying in Kaanapaali, the black rock point is great for diving.If you've got some time, fly over to Oahu and see Pearl Harbor - the flight is cheap, the taxi to the harbor will probably cost more than the plane ticket.

Remember the Road to Hana. Its the journey not the destination. Too many people make that mistake.

Iao needle is kinda neat too. Yeah do the Haleakala bike tour. Get there before sunrise, so you can see the sun come up behind a sea of clouds. It's stunning.

The Iao Valley is rad. Once to the top of the railed hike climb under the rail and hike the trail...its worth it.
Hana is great, cool black sand beaches...but depending on where you are it can be a bit out of the way.
there is some cool country side / no tourists if you do the loop around the North end (i think the north)...the non-Hana side.

I hired a jeep and went up the volcano for sunrise, that was awesome, and bloody freezing up top, and wet!
A bunch of us were huddled together in the viewing room at the top while the mist and rain came down and then everything went red with the sunrise.
Never forget it.Stay at the Four seasons, great service!
