i dont like them. everything is calculated. its all look the same. they even copy themselve.
they have a big promo machine behind them. all the hype is builded around marketing strategies.

maybe it's just me...
but I remember a few years ago when Coldplay wasn't the multi-platinum record selling machines they are today.. before anyone acknowledged how cool they were... before no 12 year old's heard of them... remember those times?
if someone would've posted "what's everyone think of that group, coldplay?" everyone would've said how great they were.. because, then, they were cool... and they felt like a find.
I don't think we should blame a band for their success. it's not like they changed their formula to sell records.. people just liked the formula.
Not their fault.
there there, it's ok to like something that sells more than 20 copies. it's ok, really.

hphzrd has a very good point.
I also think the first album was the best and it's been a bit downhill since. I think I only like the other two albums (a bit) because I loved the first album so much.

Ph and also, some of their early Bsides are better, simpler, more beautiful little tunes than their current album tracks (Try : Careful where you stand, See you soon, Help Is Round The Corner...)

I've only listened to their new single, and it's alright. I was never really that into them though so I guess I don't know much. I do know that there's not much you can do with Chris Martin's voice, imo.

I dont agree with hphzrd,
look at Radiohead, iam not afraid to say they are one of the best and original band these days. And they are fukin' popular, everyone know them, they are multi-platinum sellers.
So your argument is not good for me. Radiohead are always re-inventing themselve. Coldplay is so ordinary and always the same, it hurt!

Lame music and an entire band that is as visually interesting as U2's drummer.
