if you are arriving less than a semester, it'll be a little hard to find something without paying too much.
if you want a flat, i suggest you go through www.secondamano.it... but i suppose you don't speak italian?
try also www.tecnocasa.it (it's one of the biggest italian agencies) maybe they can fix you something.
- Drno0
thank you cap, i'll try those
jazx, once again i googled it before asking, have you seen the price on rentexpress, i'm a student not a druglord

What is your budget?
'cause in milan actually a single room (with other people in the house) costs at least 400 - 450 euros
A furinished one-roomed flat is about 550 - 900 euros (depends from the zone)
Two rooms and bathroom (furnished) is about 700 -1000 (and also more)

is not a deal: to see the newest inertions you must pay a lot (with a sms) and are free only announces 3 or 4 days old.Now i start look for an english site

the Euro is more than a US Dollar BTW. So you might be SOL unless you get some do-re-me together or have something or someone waiting for you
- CaP0
what's SOL?
(in english, i mean)
- Fariska0
the only one in english (byt descriptions are in Italian)
I gave a look at the english sites and the apartamentes there are *VERY* expansive than normal.
My suggestion is: come here, stay 3 or 4 days in hostel or cheap hotel and look for a room/house. Usually in 5-6 days or even less you will get one.

friska, i agree about the overpriced apts via internet. it's true... but it would take more than 5 days to get a flat (for a room it could be if he's lucky)...
anyhow Drno, i think that friska's idea is the best. be there AND THEN look for something.

I don't think:
it's summer: now there is good opportunity to find houses at resonable price (now or in septembers, before university lessons starts)BTW, if he looks through agencies (like tecnocasa) he sholuld pay the agencies, and the deposit (usually 2 or 3 months) If he has to stay short in this season a lot of students rents their room for July/august period, when they are on holiday, usually at the same price the pay for the rest of the year.

;)

gosh it looks really difficult
is it better for me to get a tent ??
- CaP0
Fariska, i'm talking about my personal experience (when i moved to turin and then after that to milano)... the hardest thing for me was not finding the appt itself, but convincing owners that i was trustworthy (i'm not italian).
Drno, don't panic. it's difficult but certainly not impossible. At the beging at least Fariska's suggestion is good: you might consider sharing a flat, at least for a couple of months until you get a grip of how that works... it'll be fine!
- Fariska0
If you want, but there are no campings here in Milan :-)
And now there is a huge of mosquitos

(Jun 17 05, 08:07)Oh, I know :-/
Also for me was a problem when i was moving. Now the best appts/rooms are for "no-smoking -women only".
Bah!
- CaP0
oh yeah! i forgot about mosquitos... ha ha ha ha ha!!!
i loved milano, though...
*sigh
