Wish I could find that use. Will keep looking.
Would be nice to see some links to uses of these "bad" fonts that are actually appropriate.

There are indeed many awful faces, regardless of use, and many have been mentioned, but I have been pleasantly surprised by some fonts that I thought were inherently bad. The last was a nice use of Belwe, which is usually throw up.

popularity might dictate a good typeface, wouldn't you think? i mean we're talking design. design should appeal to a broad audience.
and before someone tries to refute that arguement by noting Comic Sans success, I think it's fair to say that, that's attributed to it's free, widespread availablity.
thanks Microsoft....

A bad typeface is subjective..

Arial Black,
Can't stand it!

This thread is worthless. Someone said Garamond too. I don't use it too much, but it's NOT a bad typeface. Helvetica likewise...

again, 'not being a fan' doens't deem them bad typefaces.

I'm just not a fan of interstate, like DIN, I just don't like the lowercase...

did someone say Interstate?whats wrong with Interstate? I know the thinner weight doesnt have much going but Interstate black is oh so bold. me and Interestate black will be waiting for you outside!

(Jun 17 05, 07:05)i don't think that being tired of a typeface qualifies it as a bad typeface. those first two faces are works of art and have been used excessively world wide. the fact that you don't like them doesn't change, nor will it change that.

I like gill sans regular and light, but the lack of consistancy across all the weights in makes it really annoying so in that respect I do not like it.
I agree 100% with Avant Garde Alternates, tired of seeing that.

I don't mind Gill Sans, but I *hate* the Ultra Bold weight. Oi!

there is more bad usage than bad typefaceage

I particularly hate the @ symbol in DIN as it looks like someone got hold of poor lowercase D and molested it.
honest
(Jun 17 05, 07:13)rofl! hahaa

DIN is only nice in all caps, like Madvillain..

I don't mind DIN too much, but you are right about it becoming more commonplace like Meta was a couple of years back. I particularly hate the @ symbol in DIN as it looks like someone got hold of poor lowercase D and molested it.
I also hate any typeface with straight lines for J's and any typeface whose numbers don't comply with the rest of the alphabet's baseline rules.
It ain't big and it certainly ain't clever so pack it in the lot of you!
