yes, i had the problems with illustrator - restarted my computer - the doc was changed, browser reset, expose reset - numerous other things as well - coupled with not being able to install the anti virus program i ust bought and downloaded for 76 bucks.
current action being taken - sticking everything on the new external HD i JUST bought 2 days ago and reinstalling OS X Tiger...
any suggestions besides this...etc...?

when you first stuck in that tiger upgrade cd, like on the second screen when it asks you what HD to install it on there is a button on the bottom that says options....click that and it will give you 2 options, do the erase and install. YOu will have to reinstall everything, which means you need to back up old data, but it starts you off on a clean slate

You have plenty of free disk space left right? (things get weird when free space is low). Have you considered calling Applecare?(they could at least help with initial diagnosis)

maybe you've accidentally made another 'user' and switched to it by mistake? see if you can log-off and login again as the admin?
