When do you become Sr. designer?

How can you tell? by years?
how many years should be started counting?
Well, I shall ask how many years later since you started designing in professional field, did you become a Sr. designer.

5 - 7 years is my guess, but it also depends on your leadership, skills etc. Some move up in the pyramid faster than others

most web designers become sr designers / art director very quicky.
in real world, print, you become AD or Sr Designer after 5-10 yrs of service

(Don't believe in calling them Juniors)2. Mid Designer (2yrs)
3. Snr Designer (4yrs+)
4. Design Director (7yrs+)
5. Creative Director (10yrs+)Depends on your skills and how ambitious you are. I have absolutely no interest in being Design or Creatve Director, or even having my own company. I don't care what I'm called so long as I get paid well, and work between 9-5.

It also has to do how good you are at the managing skills.
I've seen directors who are good at managing, but not that great in art and the other way.I'm learning my a** off to reach Sr. level within 2 years.
This is my 3rd year in mgraph field.

i think you get it when you are a better designer and know more than the sr. designers you work with. i have no idea though.

that's exactly why i went straight to art director.

it's so relative to the company, region, skillset, etc. there is no HARD rule.
However, ehat was mentioned here before is about average.
