WoW looks awesome, but personally i think monthly fees bring pressure to play the game every month as oppose to playing whenever there's free time.
if i'm busy this July, i wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that I'm still paying for a game that I won't be playing next month, and it'll certainly be more difficult to focus on things that matter in life...

well it's just a question of managing your time.....I don't play half as much as some ppl i know but I have tons of fun even if I only play the weekends. But it is a shame when that is ALL you do is worry about your char. some ppl have even made a profesion so to speak out of farming out in game currency and items. It's a pretty insane world the online life.

I did sign up to Guild Wars though, its a watered down version of World of Warcraft, minus the monthly fees :)

a guy i know paid over 500 for some dude in everquest a month before hackers slaughtered entire villages.
he called me and was screaming 'they're tearing off my arms.. oh god they're killing me!' which damn near stopped my heart... then he tells me it's his character on everquest. muther fucker. i coulda really tore his arms off.

i used to work at a video game store, and people would talk about their online RPG characters like they were real people...
"yeah, so Fydyrwyr the Impaler pull out his 1000-arms staff of pain, and poked a rabbite in the butt... " etc...
