a superhero name?! I wish someone would just go the whole hog and call themselves Captain America ;)

i never saw the original, but the re-make is not bad. i think its the majority of the people that are just not getting it.

you know "they" all want to eh kelp? obviously "they" don't have the balls to use their existing screen names.

american sarcasm = contradiction in terms
Off course the original did not succeed in the US. I once gave a David Badiel book to one of my American friends and he didn't get it either.
It's just a different kind of humor. It's like Seinfeld didn't take off in Holland or Germany (although I would credit the dubbing in addition to the cultural differences).
I thought it fucking rocked. My all-time favorite alongside the Larry Sanders Show and the Simpsons.

seinfeld did take off in holland.
i think most cultures don't understand british humour. the dutch understand and love it, the germans think they understand it.

(Jun 7 05, 06:32)see I loved that as well, and the office takes a lot of it's feel from that programme I think - so surely a fair old slab of America must get the office too, no?

Seinfeld didn't do well in the UK, but Friends did. "go figure".

lmfao. Classic typical remark from an envious bloke! ;-)

to bring it down to the level of the average american viewer, the original was far too sophisticated...
