I cant figure out how to type on the bottome of a circle in illustator. The book says to alt+drag the Ibeam down but when I grab what I think is the Ibeam, nothing hapens. help.

are you using the right tool to type on the path? you need to move the ibeam with the open pointer

Just click on a circle with the Text tool. Once it is in teh default position, then drag the Ibeam for different positioning of the text

hmmm, its still not working

Um, there is a specific tool under the type sub-menus..."Type on a Path"

use the white headed arrow tool, carefully grab the i-beam thingy. Best do this in outline preview mode. Don't forget to adjust your baseline shift once your type is on the bottom depending on if you want to align by x-height or for your type to look more centralized.
