i switch from my PC and Mac all the time.. everytime i need to change internet jack (i dont use a router), i restart my modem.
my modem seems to remember the last IP address that was assigned to.
but the funny thing is that, when i switch from PC to PC, its works fine.
are you using router?

if you are using a router,
plug both computers in and restart the modem. and see if you are even connected to the router.
you will get a router IP address if you are connected

If you're using a router you'll need to call tech support who will instruct you how to telnet to it and then via the DHCP of the Ethernet Airport converter you can SSH the forward slash of the XXX up my ass
