alright, just opened inDesign. I need to set up a document for a biz card.
Am I correct to assume that it's width 3p5 and height 2p0 with a 0p8 bleed around all edges ? no margins ?

ask mayo
- brains0
maaaaaaaayyyooo ! haha.
- brains0
seriously though, where is mayo when you need her ?
- radar0
no, those are picas my friend, just highlight the text in the field and write 3.5, but make sure to put "in" afterwards and it will do the conversion for you.
- brains0
oh, merci. I'm an indesign noooooob. this should be an interesting night full of annoying questions.
- lifeinbinary0
mayo's gone home for the day i believe. she might come back on at night. send her an email though.
i am not too good with picas. what are the dimensions in inches?
- brains0
well 3.5 in width 2.0inches height.
with 1/8 inch bleed on all edges.
hurm.
- radar0
yeah, all fields in Indesign will do conversion for you as long as you put the abbreviation for the measurement afterwards.
- lifeinbinary0
that ought to work just fine. radar is the man.
- radar0
3p9
2p3
- brains0
done and done, except for the bleed, it's all fuckered. This will sound really stupid, but an eight of an inch is 0.8in right ?
holy shit. this is bad.
- brains0
mine is 21p0 and 12p0 when it converts.
- lifeinbinary0
1/8" is not 0.8
it is 0.125"
- radar0
no its 1 divided by 8, but with an 1/8" bleed all the way around you just add a 1/4" to width and height
- brains0
oh fuck. go basic math !
- brains0
yeah, it's all set up. Now all hell is about to break loose.

sorry i wasn't here to help earlier. i've been making lumpia.
- brains0
wtf is lumpia ?
- mayo0
filipino egg rolls.
Dinner: Caldereta, lumpia and rice (of course).
