if you include an AS file to your movie
#include "script.as"do you need to upload the AS file to the server??
- rabattski0
yeah duh.
- kelpie0
the clue is in the question dude, how do you include something that isn't there? :)
- rabattski0
well i assume he thinks that it's included in the swf when it's published (yet he fails to see the dislogic of that). still.
- dijitaq0
i thought that when you publish the AS file would already be "included" in the swf...
- dijitaq0
that's why i asked... so i would understand these things :)
thanks
- kelpie0
na - you include the script file so you don't need to write it into the movie - stick it in a folder and point your SWF at it like you would an XML file :)
- dijitaq0
got it. thanks again

But if you have the .as file installed as an extension you don't have to upload the .as file. Flash includes it in the .swf
- kelpie0
hmmm? :)
- imakedesign0
erm.. sorry but have any of you actually tried this?? you dont have to upload the .as file it is complied into the swf.
- dijitaq0
extension... is that like when you create your own custom class??
- skt0
Ha ha ha - you need it for compiling only. And you all start to take the piss. ha ha ha.
- kelpie0
if this is true I am truely sorry...
I have always put my .as files into folders and pulled them in (I might add mainly for CD based stuff), how do you do this?

(Jun 1 05, 02:17)You stay out of this - your input is not welcome. Feck orf...
- dijitaq0
i did try.
i made some scripts that basically draw shapes and make textfields and also to preload the site and prelaoder when i need to load external files.the site preloader wasnt working when i test the site. i assumed it was the AS file since i used the same codes as i used before.
- imakedesign0
how do you do this?
kelpie
(Jun 1 05, 02:17you hit CTRL + Enter.
- kelpie0
you can f-off too ;) cheeky cnut...
So it just writes itself into the SWF when you export? everything you have as an outside included file??
Waaaaaa! I will now die the slow death of the terminally embarrassed ;)
- bk_shankz0
Yeah I'm missing the magic of the outside .as file unless its purely for organizational purposes.
- imakedesign0
its so you can use external AS editors
