I've thinking about getting Media Temple to host a couple new sites.
I have ASP experience, but I was just looking at MT and they seem to only support PHP and Perl. Is this true? IS PHP hard to learn???

it's not difficult.
but why not look for a host that has ASP if thats what you like. There are plently of other hosts than MT.

well their site says "...MySQL is integrated tightly with scripting languages such as PHP and Perl "
I was wondering if one of the other languages NOT mentioned was ASP.
Just wondering if any NT'ers knew anything about this.

if you want I'll upload an ASP test page to my server and find out...

thanks MX, that would be cool if you would.

ASP won't run on a linux server unless they have chilisoft installed and i'm sure that's unlikely.
i think i remember them offering ASP support on dedicated server, but i don't know if they do that anymore.

your not losing out if you switch to PHP. If anything I think you will gain from learning it. PHP/MySQL is a great combo. I've used ASP a bit as well, and would choose PHP.

....I do freelance for a shop that's all PHP. I'll probably just see if I can get them to teach me a thing or two.

also, if you have good java, javascript or c/c++ exp, it will make converting much easier.

does actionscript count?? haha..
- SteveJobs0
yes because it's syntax was created similar to javascript to make javascript developers feel more comfortable in the transition.

thanks for giving it a spin, MX_OnD.
Guess I'm probably just going to take a look at learning the basics of PHP.
