morning folks.
i am looking for some photo experts advise. i am an amatuer, but am shooting this gold statue for a web site. looking to light it in front of a black backdrop and get an extremely reflected look from it. i gold leafed the statue by hand, and it is good and shinny, but looking for techniques, filters, lighting suggestions to get it to be overly reflective....blingy, for lack of a better term.
i know i can mess in PS afterwards but wanted it to be a natural as possible. any suggestions would be much appreciated.
thx

i would suggest a white back drop. gold blings better on white then black. it's all about lighting...

Just light it with a big source....like a softbox or a sheet with a light behind it.
Your backdrop doesn't have anything to do with it.

aim a few small lights at it- - move em around and keep looken through the view finder until- POW you have sparkly goodness.

Be cautious of your environmental light - chrome gold and metal all reflect the ambient light. You may even get a better effect outdoors reflecting the skyline (at sunset time when the sky has shades of orange), etc. You will still need artificial light to assist.

use a un-difused light source for the target light and a diffused fill lights.
Long exposures are good too on small apertures. helps your highlights blowout giving you that bling.
