Hello Everyone
I have a quick indesign question. I am trying to import tables of data from a Word doc into a indesign document.
However when i try to adjust the placing of text in the cells it always seems to mis-align.
As a result i have been entering the data by copying and pasting or typing into an indesign created table. When i do it the latter way everything aligns nicely and how you would expect it to behave.
Is there a way to set the tables i have imported easily? or am i going to have to continue manually doing it.
As you may have guessed this is my first foray in indesign, so i apologise if it is very easy or if i have rambled on not really explained myself.
thanks

I have never imported tables from Word or Excel into InDesign, but I am taking advanced training for InDesign tomorrow so if you don't get any help bump this thread Wednesday.

when you're importing and the import options box pops up before it places the Excel file, make sure you choose the correct Table under formatting (unformatted, formatted, unformatted tabbed)
I usually use unformatted tabbed because it keeps all the tabbing so i know what aligns with what, but allows me to change how it looks.

(May 23 05, 14:55)Thanks mayo, when i click place it just imports the file, and do not get any dialogue box, which probably means i am doing it wrong :/ It is aword document not excel...
*scratches head.
I have found a tutorial which does pretty much what i am trying to do.

(it's the Create and Customize a Table, if any one is interested)
Thanks again

are you using quick keys to place?
when you're in the box to choose what you want to place, make sure "import options" is checked on the bottom. does that work?

just shut indesign down.... need sleep..... :) was about to go but checked here first.
Will check out the import options tommorrow, but that sounds like it will be problem.
Thanks for your help. I can say honestly learn more from NT than anywhere else.
