Desktop or laptop...What's better to design on?
A mate (who does print and web) has ditched his desktop and swears by his laptop.
Confused.

whatever it takes. i have both, no wait, i have 2 laptops, 1 desktop a printer server and a box of crayons because i'm a capitalistic swine (i have to add that it's all old shit i own).

a ha. I'm surprised there's not more response. I thought most of ya hated laptops and that a real designer wouldn't use one over a desktop.

thing is with laptops, the way it's setup physically you always have to look down which is quite straining on your neck and shoulders so you have to get a bigger screen as well (most laptop screens themselves are poor). the keyboard is most of the time not comfortable so you have to have an external keyboard. so why use a laptop? that's my opinion though.

I don't think anybody prefers to design on a laptop.

i find my self enjoying my laptop more than a desktop any day.
nothing beats being able to take your work with you where ever you want to go, especially when you wanna work out side.
now if they only made a G5 laptop, with a 120gig drive and 4 gigs of ram.

I prefer a touchpad to a normal mouse. It minimizes the amount of muscles you can move in order to move the cursor, so less mistakes.
Keyboards on laptops...you just adapt, and eventually it feels natural.

i like my laptop a lot, especially when i plug it into my 20" cinema at home w/ wireless keyboard and mouse.
i prefer a desktop though, since its a lot more powerful...
