I know this may be really simple..but is there any way I can play scene X in swf1 from a button in swf2?
I've tried
_global.mc_movie.sceneX.gotoAndP...
Thanks in advance

Best thing to do is create a function in swf1 eg:
function playSceneX() { _root.gotoAndPlay("someScene");
}then from a btn in swf2 (which i presume is being loaded in using loadMovie() or loadMovieNum()) use:
// if loaded using loadMovie()
onRelease() {
_root.playSceneX()
},// if loaded using loadMovieNum()
onRelease() {
_level0.playSceneX()
}Any help?

targetting scenes is unreliable. Give those suckahs frame labels.

I agree! I'm surprise Macromedia haven;t scrapped scenes in Flash. I can't see the benefit of them and they will cause you more problems than they solve.

yea..thanks that helped...now If i can just figure out how to store variables in another text file...say swf3 on another level...

Scenes are mainly for animation, they are great if you have a long animation or sequence that doesnt require interactivity, keeps you from having to horizontal scroll too much.
