Hello,
Does anybody know who did the cover for this?http://www.blackdaytofreedom.org…
Because if it isn't Non Format (not mentioned as contributors) it's quite a ripoff for a design project

how is that a ripoff??
- vb_0
you see this style in all the 'cool' mags nowadays.

If you have a look at the archive bit in the Non Format website where the have the stuff they did for Wire Magazine you'll see what I mean. I still think it's blatant how 'similar' this is.

its def. similar, but i don't think its a full blown rip. besides, the black day book is awesome.

i dont even need to click on the link (cus i remember) to tell you it is a total rip off.
- k770
so what?
- jimeeboy510
doesnt look like a rip imho, but i think JustDesign did it.
Description also notes:
A book created by The Ronin and The University of Huddersfield. It showcases over 30 different visuals from different artists for a real informative read.

No its not by JUST , although he has a piece IN the book.
OK, I can see a similarity in style... but to call it a rip is a bit low (the letters don't even break!).
And the book rocks!

Haha, no I didn't do it. I don't even think it's close. There's similar use of typography on both, but to be honest, I think to call this a total rip is stupid. People have been putting branches next to type for years, and taking negative shapes out of letters. Someone did it before Non-Format, I can tell you that.

Also I want to thank Muller for refering to me as JUST and not JustDesign, haha.

stop the presses! graphic styling ripoffs in progress.
Do you think that Monet ran around accussing the rest of the impressionists of ripping him off?
No, impressionism died eventually so will messy ink splatters over grotesks probably a lot sooner and not be remembered nearly as fondly. But so it goes.
Get a life.

Yeah honestly. Amen to that. The Ronin's use of type and images for the cover totally has to do with the project as well.

Fuckin'ell while you're at it TBOA you might as well call them on the 45 degree pixel stripes as well.
Personally I do mine at 47.5 degrees out of respect for those trailblazing design wunderkinds that discovered them up their own ass in the first place.
