I work at a mortgage lender office and i do alot of inhouse design for them and realtors. I have a feeling i am getting way underpaid for my services. I do alot of business card designs, flyers and postcards. I am the one that meets with clients and take care of all the submissions to printers. Recently they have given me a task to do a whole identity campaign for a NEW realt state agency, but I am not getting paid seperately for that. I know if you outsource this to a firm it will cost thousands of dollars to design and branding. I am gettin paid chump change (under $15) This is my first job out of college, but I still think i should be getting paid more for the amount of work being done.
How will i be able to negotiate a better pay? My 3 month review is almost here and I need to work out what i gotta say to get more bucks. Any of you guys have thoughts or help me out?(sorry for the long read)

yeah, you are definately getting taken advantage of. you might be better off finding another job. my guess is if you ask for a salary adjustment, they'll say forget it. because they dont respect or understand the profession

dude I was in the same situation a year ago (in house too) They started me on 25k a year outa college, then bumped me up to 30k. I knew I was going back to school otherwise I would have ditched this low paying crap for something else.
Dude get a new job. I gaurantee they wont pay you any more.

Okay maybe i'm a bit bitter. So try and negotiate something better first, then start lookin for a new job while at the place you're at, if you dont get it.

Dood- you are just out of school - be grateful that someone hired your ass - im sure many of your mates are still working at the pumps, or washing dishes.
take the experience, build on your porfolio and skills and run with that! and smile. Now if you're still there in 5yrs with a $20k salary - we will all take a trip down there and beat your ass!

If your straight outta school, I would stick it out for a bit to get some experience and some portfolio pieces, sounds like you getting some good campaign work.
And you can't compare yourself to what they would pay an agency, because your not an agency.

try and get a salary adjustment and an accelerated review schedule...illustrate the point that you are going above and beyond the requirements of your position...

work hard - build a reference - and a portfolio - and shoot your resume out. Dont give up man - it pays off - we have all been there. Dont worry about the $$ yet. You can always get freelance gigs on the side, thats whats good about our profession.

it's good to understand the nature of business and nagotiation skill early on. you don't need to be an expart but just understand it.

I had that exact problem a few years ago.
My advice is a combination of what everyone else has said:
It sucks getting raped, but you should be thankful somebody wants to hump you.
I stuck it out for a few months, then split.

frOst man - you from lauderdale? i,m there all the time. i have a condo in daytona , and family down your way.
You should just be happy you live in the sun.
If it was easy to get a GreenCard i would be there all year long.
