I was driving home this morning, listening to my iPod, when it just froze. I figured when I got home, I could just plug it in to the charger and it would come back to me, but nothing is happening and I can't shut it off.
Does anyone know what the deal is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try to reset it? or will that even work?
If it keeps happening send it back. I just had to send mine back because it was doing something similar and then it wouldnt move forward.
Finicky things

update: i was not jamming out to the iPod with headphones on, rather i had the iPod connected to my tape deck, thus distributing the songs on the iPod throughout my vehicle via the cars speakers.

just do a soft reboot

menu + select hold for 10 seconds or something. mine was doing that like crazy.
the ipod has a 20 minute anti-skip protection. that's if you play an album or something, and dont touch any buttons, it will play skip free for 20 minutes. after that it is a finiky little hardrive, until it buffers 20 more minutes.

it's Menu and Play for 3 seconds.

no go on the menu and play thing. still frozen. damnit.

then hold it down longer. you have 3rd gen ipod? i know for a fact that works.

thanks for all the input by the way, much appreciated.
im gonna try holding it for longer. i dont know when gen mine it, its a 20gb click wheel. is that 3 or 4? i dunno.

yeah, menu + play for a minute didnt work. fuckers frozen bad.

if it's the 4th gen w/the grey wheel, you hold play/pause and select for like 6 secs.
if you have the old ipods with the analog scrolling wheel. i don't know then. search google.

take it bac. you live in Boston right/ they should have a SUPER store there and they are good about it

mine does that sometimes... just reboot it as mentioned above. they give better instruction in the manual..

mattyd... give it a shot a couple more times. First you need to switch hold on then off before you hold the buttons. Mine has been frozen bad (4th gen) and this always fixes it. you'll see the apple when it reboots.
