My mother once thought she had breast cancer. She kept it from me, but i could tell something was up. Started cooking my favourite dinner and spending all this time with me. Even sat down to play Tekken on my old PS one, and kept laughing at how inept she was, and stroking my hair. This loving smile that never left her face for a whole week...
Then she got the all clear and returned to the normal "woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown" persona. Bitching at me for not being the son she wanted. Telling me what a disgrace and dissapointment I was to her, wishing i would just get out of her life...
And I remember wishing that she really did have breast cancer.
