hello all and freelancers.
question, do you include sales tax in your proposals and contracts?
I just got the graphic arts guild guide to pricing and ethics, however chapter 3, which deals with this issue, is not in the friggin book. It goes from chap 2 to chap 4. maybe thats why I got tha dang book forr 8 bucks on amazon. Anyway, do you?

I don't charge sales tax because my clients are buying reproduction rights to my work, not the actual work itself. There's a big difference.

So plus all applicable taxes means "and you earn anything you have to pay on taxes too"?
or
"if you have to pay taxes it comes out of your wage"?

What is it you're selling?

Is it still true that files delivered via the interwebs are not taxable?

I am writing a proposal to create 3 signs for consruction sites, that will hang outside of each area, which the rfp is from a redevelopment assoc. they have to request grany money from the city, and I was just wondering if I should include in my proposal my fee PLUS tax. first time Im writing a proposal so I dunno if that is ok to put that in there.

cover your ass, toss it in there

I'd either add the "applicable tax" language or just add the tax to your bid so you're giving them one number.
