i didn't realize it's a two color job...
that makes things more simple. If you picked the colors off a pantone swatch book, then you'll have a pretty reliable output.
CMYK gets much more complex.

that's good to know, as long as it's not canon copier prints then I can sleep at night.
thanks again for your wisdom. night

ive found that digital presses look a tad more dull than offset, and the dots are a wee more coarse. but it looks printed and not color copies- so it wont look cheap at all
- Gorbie0
that's tough to say. I've seen good and i've seen bad.
i may be wrong but i don't think it would've been cost effective at all to go offset for ony 150.

is digital print bad quality? I don't know the difference. I just don't want it to look like it's cheap.

one story and i'm out.
one time a client came in and wanted this magazine printed. 4 color throughout, with UV gloss on the cover. probably 48 pages or so. run of about 10,000.
printed the whole thing, sent it out for the UV (we didn't have the equip) bound it and delivered.
Client calls screaming about the cover... it seems that the designer must have accidentaly slipped with the airbrush tool in PS, and there was a big black splotch right in the middle of the cover. It was weird... you didn't notice it at first - but when i was told what was wrong, it looked soooo obvious.
anyway...
they reprined the bitch.

not to undermind your point though, BonChief.
cause it made perfect sense. like i said before... i'd be there.
- BonSeff0
true true enough.
i can imagine since you worked at a printer, you prolly saw your share of clients that couldnt be bothered for a check and then came back bitching about issues that could have been worked out had they cared enough to meet with the pressman
- Gorbie0
it must be digital. I can't imagine 4 color offset for 150 unless they were grouping it together with somebody elses job - in which case you wouldn't get much say as far as a presscheck.
- piperboytoy0
actually I don't know, it doesnt' say on the proof but you can see the design here.

sort of....
but if they botch something like that, then i'd make them eat that measly 150 and do it right.
if you trust them to check off on 10,000 and there's a problem - then you aren't going to get much cooperation.
- Gorbie0
no problem.
enjoy your vaction.

i dont think 150 is less sweatable that 10000
shit, 150 of the 150 would be make ready's
is it an offset press or a digital press?
- piperboytoy0
thanks for all your great advice. I think this is a great learning curve for me. I shouldn't be stressed out but I'm going on vacation tomorrow, so i want to get everything approved first before I leave. also the wedding invite is for my friend, so I want it to be extra nice.
thanks airey, Bonseff, Gorbie and Swollenelbow. have a nice night guys.
- Gorbie0
you're fine.
150 is nothing to sweat.
- BonSeff0
thats a small run, but just be sure the acct rep that will be at the press check knows exactly what the color should be like
(assuming she's arsed to check a 150 ct print run)
i think the press check is the most important step. i cant count how many moves ive made or how many plates ive had redone...

hey piperboy don't stress man. everyone esle goes through this and 99% of the time it's cool. if they balls it you just get them to reprint (this shouldnt be a problem. shouldnt i said...). it'll be fine, just don't worry and if anything goes wrong solve it when it happens. life is way to short to stress over it.
- Gorbie0
it may be okay piperboy...
i worked for a printer and a lot of clients didn't check it out on press. it's not uncommon at all.
- piperboytoy0
thanks for clarifying. I'm only doing 150 wedding invites, so I guess it should be fine. right?
- swollenelbow0
color break, nope sir, never heard of it...but you guys are on the right track! =)
