that is badass.
- airey0
what'd it cost you?
- blackspade0
are u asking me airey ?
if so, they were $299US online, ($400NZ) and here in shops they were trying to sell them for $699NZ, i was like; u must be joking, they making like over 200 bucks per Unit!! a-holes
So i called up the Korg rep for NZ and haggled him down to $500NZ including shipping and warranty, so pretty hapy with that price
- airey0
wicked. can you let us know what your thoughts are about it in a bit? pros / cons etc?
- toe_knee0
i can play the Axel F theme song from Beverley Hills cop on those bad boys
- blackspade0
niice algorithm,
so explain to me the advantage of sticking with the MPC machines, obviously they area very popular unit, but I cant see anything that it does, that I cant do with software like Logic and a basic MIDI keyboard with pads ??
- blackspade0
lol toe_knee
sure thing airey, are u in the market for a MIDI ?
the only thing that concerns me so far are the small keys, but im yet to even plug this bad-boy in

I can swing around off the back of a box truck like 'beverly hills cop" to tony's theme music.

At first I got thisthread confused with the realdoll one.
spade your lucky, Ive been all over that keyboard since it was released... really beautiful.
Is it heavy/big tho? Can you picture putting it in a backpack with a laptop (Ie. easily transportable) or is it more like something that stays at home?
I've got an Evolution right now and it does the job just fine. But the Korg just looks so solid more like an instrument you want to play... also with the LCD displays and transport/drum pads... sweet looking!
hope you enjoy it.
- blackspade0
yea real solid, feels more like an instrument than a bit o plastic, nice brushed metal look
its actually smaller than I imagined, you could def fit it in a backpack, but i feel like you'd be in danger of snapping that little toggle on the far left
but yea its definately transportable, not that heavy at all

I have been using Reason and just find the Akai Mpc1000 more intuitive to than a computer-based sequencer. PLus u can drag and drop from the MPC onto your computer.
- blackspade0
okay thats cool, ive never used an MPC but know enough about what they do, i was thinking of investing in one but it just seemed a little bit backward (?)
but i guess just what-ever works best for you, and its more what you're used to huh
- algorithm0
say recording me playing drums or guitar, dump into MPC. Mess with it. Then dump into my Korg Karma foundry software, mess more, imoprt into Reaason, more messing. Just experimenting with process and foundation

i'm getting an mbox soon so i can input my bass. it comes with protools le but i also want to get something to play keys on. no idea what to get yet. i'll need a software synth (it comes with reason le at least) and a midi keyboard trigger (i'd love to get NI Battery). all way too confusing for me at the moment. Protools apprently blows with midi so i have no idea what else to do on a small budget?
