i have to do a presentation and need to cut a bunch of foamcore to mount. i tried to do this with an xacto knife and it was a nightmare. have you ever used one of these, and do they work?

or have a better suggestion?

ditto grunt.
that's what i use, too. but if you have lots and lots to do, might be worth a try that gadget...
'specially cos the straight lines can be difficult.

surgical scapal {sp?} and non sterile blades with metal rule. works fine all the time

that foamcore cutter is just a glorified utility knife and only good if you want to cut a bevel...what you need is a t-square and to be careful so you dont slice your fingers to pieces

if you want to be the baddest foamcore cuttin' motherfucker on your block use the utility knife and a Big Yellow Ruler (that's a brand name... google it). It's a no slip ruler from heaven.

"Cut away from the body".
"Cut AWAY from the body".
"Right, get to the nurse".

that big yellow ruler looks pretty slick.

if you can get your hands on a scalpal that is your best bet

i used to use one on these and it always worked a f**king treat!

but otherwise try using a stanley knife instead of a scapel... blades are tougher.

Depends on the presentation. The logan foamcutter cuts at an angle- so primarily you use it when your sticking stuff to walls, boards etc. because it hides the backing.
Used it all the time a uni. also depends on thickness of board too. Over here it comes in 3mm and 5mm; the thicker the board the quicker you go through the blades.
Can always recommend Swann Morton scapels:
