My setup is ok, but a friend has got a speedtouch 330 with homecall broadband and their tech sucks - haven't got a clue. Went to speedtouch website and "No support for Tiger at Present". So I think it might be my only option...

Maybe this is a good time to ditch the USB modem (not a good way to use broadband) and get a proper ADSL/router/firewall/wireless basestation? They dont cost that much.
With a router its always connected, independently of the Mac, so when you put the computer to sleep the connection doesnt drop. No driver hassles, easier networking etc...

usb networking components are the dumbest inventions.
i don't see why anyone would develop a product like that.
you can get routers for ~$60 usd now.
that's pocket change for decent network performance.

Thanks for everyones advice. Called speedtouch and they said driver within 2 weeks, so I'll see if it works with Virtual PC in the meantime. I have a router myself. My friend is poor and is unlikely to invest in anything that wasn't given free with the connection.
I hate computers.
