I decided to go with the coated. I think my printer things I have multiple personality because i've sent her 3 different emails with 3 different choices for stock.
:(
thanks for all your help.

btw.. i love uncoated paper, BUT...
for yours i would prolly recommmend matte coated.. just so that pink pops and the fine detail is not lost (uncoated papers have a small fraction of bleed).

3/3 = 3 colors on each side

2/1 = 2 colors 1 side/ 1 on the other..
in my case 2/1 = green & brown/ brown
mohawk uncoated was just ref to the stock.. not exactly a premium card, but i love uncoated papers.

ok what does it mean when they say 3/3? is it 3 colors 3 sides?
I didn't want to ask the printer because they might think i'm a dumbass

I'd say uncoated with a nice subtle textured paper, good luck with that.

the printer is supposed to be good, quite a few people recommended it.
The thing is I'm a few hours away from them so I won't be able to check until I get the proofs. :( There is no print shop where I live.
I got my colors from a pantone swatch book. it's solid coated I think. I'm not sure if I should use the matte or coated cover stock. I like the matte finished, but the colors are nicer on the coated stock.
thanks for your help kid.

just work closely with a good printer. Let them know from the start that this is your first job. Go to the press checks and look closely at the details. Did you choose your colors from a pantone swatch guide or are you working in CMYK?
- piperboytoy0
thanks kid, will you think it will print well? I don't want it to look cheesy. I hope they do a good job as this is my first print thing.

will i have to seperate the colors in the file? What if the 3 color bg is in a photoshop flat file? Someone told me that the printers have a program that automatically seperates the colors, is that true?

If it's a real small run some printers may suggest a digital print solution but offset litho is what you woulds probably get for this type of stuff. Lots of wedding invites are done with a letterpress but the detail in you invite and the budget may not warrant that.

correspondes is not a proper word.

talk to your printer for the specs. if it's a 3 color run then the doc should be set up in 3 colors, seperated per colour and it should be clear to the printer which colour in your doc correspondes to which colour is printed.

$1000 small run. I asked for the printer's quote it's for 3 colors 2 side. + envelope too
thanks. I hope it's not the cheap print kind.

What's their budget for printing these?
