Is there a way to convert a typeface that is in an eps file to vector outlines? I don't think that could happen in illustrator, but I also heard there is a way to do that in fireworks. Any input will help, and open to other suggestions too
thanks!

yea I know, but I gotta rebuild a logo came to me as an eps file. the eps image has a background thats gotta go, and the client just wants the logo real defined.

type>convert to outlines
???

So whats your question? sorry i'm confused, you want it to become outlines? Isn't it outlines already?
- mangosnot0
no its flattened, like a jpeg would be. I wanted to know if there is a way to maybe go over the image in fireworks, use the magic wand to make a path around all the type I need, convert that to vector graphics, and import to illustrator. I heard there is a way to do this. I've been rebuilding these logos all day in illy, and now I'm just trying to see if there is a quicker way around that.

hope this makes sense, sorr if its confusing!

mix in the pin tool and about 30 minutes
- GreedoLives0
well if the colors are different enough, you could select the type in photoshop and export the selection as an illy path.
then clean it up a bit...

Or you can use the autotrace tool in illistrator but it's pretty nasty. Get the pen tool out as bonseff suggested won't take too long unless the artwork is hella complicated.
- tehgee0
do u mean the autotrace in flash?
- mangosnot0
ahhh, the pen tool is a grand pal of mine. I think I will just stick with it, cleaner lines fo sho. Thanks you all for your suggests! I really appreciate!

if it's all vector (as i understand it is) but flattened, i would open in it flash. do my work there and bring it back to illy. i dunno fireworks at all. wtf is it?

I was told fire works, but Im just stickin with the pen in illustrator. whats the up wit auto trace in flash? thanks though Tee!

fireworks is eevil
- Beech0
There is autotrace in illustrator as well (at least in cs) It's not that flexible though.
Or use streamline, they don't develop it any more, but it still works in classic.
