I'm sure this has been asked countless times, but how much do most of you charge for a basic HTML design? Home, About, Contact, Portfolio pages included. I'll be plugging in videos as well.

I'll be more specific. The client has all their jpegs and media files done. I just have to design a layout and graphics for them and plug in all the files. I usually undersell myself and I don't want to do that this time.

With the current state of webdesign and programming, I would say $20 bucks for a quick site and $100 bucks for the whole thing. Depends where you strut your services tho. It's give or take...

i never charge less than US $1200

charge by the hour and then if they are difficult youre covered.
If they need a set price tell them it will take approx. XX hours @ XX/hr. and that you'll let them know when you reach the said hours and why it's takinig more than originally estimated. make it clear that it's an estimate and sometimes things run over.

uhh.. 20 bucks? maybe if i wasn't a graphic designer in addition to a web designer. that seems pretty low. I value my art work more than that. The person has approached me because of my design style, not just because i can put together a site in dreamweaver. Almost anyone can do that, and they're the ones who should charge 20. If the person wanted a piece of plain white crap, then i'd be cheap. I got more to me than that, call me egotistical if you like.

i'm with scarabin. 1200 for a basic site is where i sit at...
anything less, and they're wasting my time.

yeah, like the one guy said, think about how many hours it will take. and then make a set rate. (eg. the place I work at charges like $85 an hour, yet they are a business, so maybe 35-40 an hour) Really depends on where you live though.
