does linotype have an equivolant to edward johnston's railway type? used for the london underground logo?
- NegativeSpace0
Linotype does not, the closest your going to get is Gill Sans. Although P22 does have a version of Johnston Sans:

I bought the johnston typface at the transport musem sadly enough... so why not just buy the real thing?

lager > fonts ...
no problem!
- warheros20
what does that mean, explain!
- NegativeSpace0
He means you spending too much on beer as a student when you could buy the type lol, or at least I think so.

Lol. It's easy to say Buy It when you're earning, in Carnaby Street. Unless I'm wrong here.

i was joking... lighten up!
- Engage_London0

Thought u were joking LoL.
At least you're not at your local on a saturday night.... Saving for fonts perhaps? Heheh.

nah i dont have a credit card to buy shit online.
plus beer is essential, fellas. so are other things. like food! yeah, food. . . .
- Engage_London0
i don't have a local at the weekend...thought the shaston is a must if you live or work near carnaby street (better that o'neills... althought reliably informed it is the busiest pub in uk)... but if you want to get the johnston look with gill sans just rotate the dots on your i's and j's by 45 degrees
- warheros20
and change the 't' ... and im in detroit. err....eh? wtf
- Engage_London0
or scan it in and trace it like i did when i did a whole project on the london undergoround
- warheros20

Rian Hughes did a pretty cartoony version of the Underground type:
http://www.fontshop.com/showfont…On the other end of the spectrum is Jeremy Tankard's ultra tame take on Johnston and Gill Sans, Bliss:

Bliss looks great, but why the different g characters in italic and light?
