i like it as long as it's well designed and there's not too much guess work. i think there should be more of it happening.

Not a fan really.
It's easier and more effective to keep the basic OS controls of the software across platforms. Common keyboard shortcuts are a must, contextual menus and file menus I also think should be uniform. IMO there are somethings that shouldent me screwed with / should be standardized. theres really no loical reason to change them. Besides, there are plenty of software specific menus, controls, and work flow issues that the developer can and should focus their energy on.

if the workstation's only real purpose is the use of that software, then i think it can be a good thing.
but it has to be usable. some fucked up, assed gui will only make it a pain to use.

it just depends on the circumstances. fs ui's aren't appropriate in all instances, but in some, where controls and stage are both vying for real estate, you don't have much choice.

i'm not a huge fan of it. i like the familiarity of standard OS controls...

well flame and smoke have to have their own machines, yes? so yeah im okay with that. plus you can kick some ass in flame! damn!

software like flame and smoke are huge hogs that need their own workstation, therefore, it's fine if they are fullscreen becuase not much else will be happening on that machine. there is a need for much more flexibility between smaller programs like illy, ps, flash, ae, etc because we always have to bounce back and forth between them all, so i think i fullscreen in these programs is a little inefficient..

What are the advantages to this kind of thing?
I'm interested.
