Manchester is great, have lived and worked in the city for about 3 years. really big student scene and stuff always happening on an arts and music scene.
Salford is a good uni, they have a good set of design courses.
i studied in liverpool, who have a good multimedia course

Salford?
New a girl that studied there who had a gun pulled on her..Ive seen that uni, its shit. miserable bastards they are as well. :)
Go to Liverpool, far better place. great nite-life, friendly people and they hate mancs. What more can you ask for.. but you might wanna buy a large safe.

I'd choose Manchester or Leeds over London every time. They're both a helluva lot cheaper than london, and both Manc and Leeds have tight student scenes. Salford's a bit rought though.
Manchester's got a big music / clubbing / arty scene going on. You'd never get bored.
Leeds is lovely- it's basically a cleaner more compact version of Manchester. It's got a really huge student population (rad if you're a student, shit if you're a professional/family person living around Hyde Park or Headingley).
Sack of St Martins- I was lectured by a tutor from there- what a load of pretentious shite.

Yeah Manchester everytime!
its got its typical selection of bars clubs good music (depends where you go) and its student friendly, I think?Salford uni is alright it used to have a good graphics course but I think its gone a bit poo now.
plus the whole of Manchester is a bit rough so it doesnt matter where you go really

manchester isn't all rough. of course there's places you shouldn't go but that's the same all over the country. places like moss side have a growing number of students moving in (it's damn cheap and close to town/transport), although i probably wouldn't advise it to a wide eyed foreign student. fallowfield is the student district - cheap housing , constant transport and lots of bars.
the nightlife's great - lots of student nights and relatively cheap.
i've moved down to brighton to study and i do miss it.
i don't know too much about the course at salford, but the city itself does have some problems.

I studied at Salford. The tutors couldn't really be botherd to teach us towardds the end of the course. It still relies on its reputation it gained during hte late 90s.
Manchester is a great city for students. Lots going on and its easy to access, although after 3 years of living there I found it a little restrictive.
It can be a rough place. A freind of mine was shot at and I caught a few beats there. You tend to get left alone in London.
Having said that I love to go back and visit. Its a different kind of city to london. I still relly like though

I went to Salford. I then moved to London for 4 years. Now i'm living back in Manc. Its a great city with loads going on, excellent for students.
