In lieu of the new x-treme dc logo, i thought it appropriate to revisit the now dead 'Xtreme' capaigns that were popular in and around 2000. such ads included gogurt (Xtreme yogurt) - this isn't your grandmothers yogurt!
to celebrate this slick marketing strategy, i thought we might consider other venues that might benifit from an 'Xtreme makeover':
for instance: Xtreme vascectomy! this isn't your grandfathers vascectomy! throw away those boring 'safe' medical supplies and anesthetics. we're going in with a hatchet and a hand grenade! we're Xtreme!!!

with all the NEW energy drinks hitting the market, and mountain dew still tainting the earth with it's vile presence, i hardly think the extreme marketing campaign is over. for it is, indeed, the only way for souless corporations to keep "keep it real," on the streets, and so forth.
my friend, the Xtreme revolution has not yet reached it's climax!

Mountain Dew really needs an energy drink... in all fairness, they were the original, then Jolt, then the guarna drinks to red bull , and now countless others.
The Xtream thing was pretty funny back then... sometimes I wonder how people in the marketing industries get paid 6-7 figures to figue out new ways to abuse a word.
A better thing to do would be to come up with the next "Xtreame" type saying. You know, something catchy for the kids to latch on to and do some Xtreame spending.
What could be the next over used catchphrase?
You can see that ads are struggeling for something... most of the newer car commercials have an obsession with being "ahead" of everything else in the market. The emphesis isnt so much on the extemity of things anymore, but on the extreme advancement. The whole use of "X" had a lot to do with generation X label as well... I think it really started with Extreme sports and then X-games, was further fueld by what was one a Raver generation (pepsi generation) whcih X was very popular with.
Z is just waiting to break out... I think Z with be much cooler than X (and not adding z to the end of everything.). Q also has some possibilities for that avant guarde, mysterious feeling. If apple named their next os as OZ, I think Windows would be finished.

I don't think you know what, "In lieu of," actually means.

Xtreme Fiber!!!
This isn't your grandparents fiber supplement! Xtreme Fiber comes packed with a whopping 250grams of pure unadulderated blockage stopping soluble psyllium fiber! that's more than 40 times your recommended daily fiber intake! pretty soon, you'll be using terms like Xtreme runs, Xsprints or XBM when describing the wacky shenanigans that ensues as you make an Xtreme B-line to the can and fire up the porcelein acoustic bass booster in blissfull solidarity.
