ok. need some advice.
my current job sucks ass. but it's good money. i'm thinking of quitting though in the next few weeks to go to poland for a month and work on an online business with two friends who live there. they are developers who will work on the backend whle i take care of design. we've done alot of research and we think the business could be very profitable. of course like any business it could also be a bust. but you never know unless you try. right?
anyways. i've got enough cash saved up that i think i could have a few g's left when i return. the only issue i will be jobless and have to find another job. i've been interviewing with other companies, but haven't found the right fit yet.
also, i'm getting married this november. i want to make sure that my future wife and i won't be in the poor house. she's supportive of me going. (she can't go because she can't afford quit her job) so i pose this...should i do it? or should i stay at the current job and keep looking for a new job while i've got a paycheck?

sorry but since when is poland profitable? not to be rude but polish employees tend to work everywhere in europe because they're dead cheap and make way more money abroad then in poland.

do it. sounds like you have a plan and this project that you want to work on could turn out great. if it doesn't work out, you will be still be happier than you are now because you tried to do something that you actually wanted to do as opposed to a job that sucks ass. it will also be a good experience.
since finance is not an issue i say go for it.

working abroad is always positive. broadens your horizon, good for personal growth. but money wise dunno, don't expect to make a lot of money, then again i could be wrong, i know poland but i don't know what designers make there plus money is just money. and life's cheap there.

poland is not neccisarily profitable for this business, my friends live there. i can go and stay with them for free. the business will not have much overhead since we will be the ones doing the work and don't have to hire developers. also, the business is not really for profit in poland. it will be an online business used worldwide. my friends that live there work from there and have US and other European clients therefore maximizing their income.

is it going to affect your pending marriage in any way, positive or negative?
if so, there's your answer.

i'm really suprised your fiance is cool with all of this. you see, most women find financial security too be very important leading up to and as a part of marriage. part of their nesting instinct.
and seperated for a month? are you sure its a good idea?

she's cool with it. she understands that it could potentially be a huge money maker. probably not for a year or so as it takes time to build up.
i've traveled quite and she knows i'm not doing this just to go bum around eastern europe. she's pretty understanding and i'm damn lucky to have a girl like that...just one of the reasons why i'm marrying her ;)

i don't think i have to worry about that. we live in seperate places right now anyways and only get to see each other on weekends. we've been doing that since i took this job - 4 months ago

This could be a good idea. Keep in mind that developing a website with a backend is only the beginning. I've seen great ideas wasted at the point of software completion. As Rabattski, said Polish salaries and job market are a joke, that's one of the pile of reasons im moving out.
You don't like your current job, so the worst that can happen to you is busy vacation in a bit exotic part of Europe and a great new job when you return home.
If you need any specific advice or info about Poland, email me. What part of Poland will it be? Be careful, the booze in bars and pubs is dangerously cheap. Too bad you are getting married, JazX could tell you about Polish women.. ;)
