all tomorrows parties, william gibson is up that alley.
k77reading ATP without reading the whole virtual light series it comees out of would be a terrible crime.
and reading those without reading snow crash would be equally bad.

Perfume by Patrick Suskind.
One of the most original stories ever written.

PS: the book "we" is basically what orwell ripped off (well) for 1984.
For good paranoia, also try Dead Souls (or, fine, notes from the underground) by Dostoyevsky, or the Stranger by Camus.

hey there, benfal. i haven't read the whole thread, but hope that my advice doesn't just repeat what others have said.
basically, what the books you've mentioned all have in common is that they treat questions of utopia and dystopia (which happens to be what i wrote my thesis about).
if you're interested in this kind of literature, i have a few recommendations for you:
zamyatin's we
moore's utiopiaand, more importantlly, in film (where the concept of utopia and dystopia eventually found its natural home):
la haine
blade runner
logan's run
a clockwork orange
etc.i suppose you get the jist...

I dont know why Georges Lucas did not made more movies like THX1138, this movie is a masterpiece... the new remastered version DVD is excellent! Star Wars look ordinary beside THX... in my book.
