hello.
is anyone else running tiger and having problems copying and pasting from illustrator to photoshop? i am getting this error:
"could not import the clipboard because the specified format is not in the edition."
kinda puts a ridiculous damper on workflow...
thanks

Illustrator > Edit > Preferences > Clipboard > Copy as
PDF should work but try some variants with the settings there

heh im thinking here, but if ACIB clipboard content doesnt work you wont be able to paste from Illustrator to Fontlab
good that im not after the dashboard and other Tiger bells right away

maybe best never to be too eager to install an OS update, you never know what obscure app or essential feature for your workflow will be wrecked
in a couple weeks i might try

Very wise words..
I would say that this is also wise regarding hardware too!And i will wait at least 2 months (or the 1st/ second update) before even considering upgrading..

i plan on getting on of the updated iMac G5's that are right around the corner: 2ghz, 16x superdrive, 128mb graphics card, 512mb included ram, shipping with tiger.
the 10.4.1 update should also be out soon, fixing a lot of problems and optimizations they overlooked.

Hmm i wonder what the odds of me slipping one of those 16x drives in my old iMac G5 are, pretty good I hope?

i just don't get it. this sounds so like windows in the 90's. release software asap, let the consumers be the beta tester and they fix it by releasing an update.
with all due respect but that was never the case with apple classic os's. every single os release was carefully tested and hardly had any bugs.
i refuse to pay 120 euros for an os that is faulty. i don't understand why people think that that is ok coz an update will be avail anyways. i don't buy a car with a faulty engine with the knowledge that maybe one day some mechanic will come by to fix it.

I'm not sure they have managed to fix 10.3 yet!
Installing new software when you are trying to get some work done is a pisser.
You're better off sticking the new software on a spare machine and having a play with it first. Having to figure out what the fuck is wrong with your machine while your phone is red hot with irrate client's is way too much stress.
Being the first with new software usually means you are the first to find the problems!

From Apple Insider:
"Scheduled for release sometime next month, the Mac OS X 10.4.1 Update will reportedly tie several loose ends vacated when the Mac maker, on deadline, declared build 8A428 of Mac OS X 10.4 gold master on March 31st.""[10.4.1] will also include optimizations and deliver support for DVD Studio Pro 4, part of Apple's new $1299 Final Cut Studio video production suite."

i installed tiger on and old G4 400 (!) at the office and it works fine - zero problems so far, seems ready for release to me. but what do i know?

yeah...its been pretty solid...the only glitches i've had were when Spotlight was indexing...and that was only a problem on my g3 powerbook, which is now running nicely with tiger...it was a little slow the first couple days but seems ok now...
the illustrator thing was weird because i had copy as PDF selected in illustrator...adding the other option made it work though...

hmm "right around the corner" i guess means TODAY. didn't realize they already posted the details on their site. no 16x superdrive tho :( but it's still dual layer!
