anybody experience their powerbooks getting really hot, too hot to touch?
i have a 15in g4, purchased dec 2003; does not have the faulty battery.
a friend of mine has the same situation.
checked apple/discussions and most say to restart the powersource. havent tried it yet.
any other input?

is your battery the recalled battery?

or is it just the freakin battery?

They get hot. They turn themselves off. Thank you for buying Apple.

could be the battery...that was my issue

How about running a CPU temp tracking program, and compare against the Apple spec?

honestly, if you're working with it on a table they sell (cheap) a little stand that raises the back of the laptop a bit so it 'breathes' better.
if it's on your lap think about it, your body heat is 98 degrees and your legs are against the bottom of the book not allowing it to cool off.
i don't have the same problem with my ibook but i only use it for 2 or 3 hours at a time. not all day.

It's Apple's male birth control system for laptop users.

Mine gets hot as hell too, but isn't part of the battery replacement thingy.
My desk is pretty goddam thick and I can still feel its really hot under it.

check this, they have several solutions - though the 2 fans underneath the PB seem a bit like a joke
