what designerror said
- k770
why not just put it live temporarily?
- Hym0
doesnt have to be web content alone, it could be broadcast, print, anything
in most cases its not something clients like to have public before its supposed to be published
- k770
'just in case' yeah?
- version30
i go from concept to completed on my domain subdirectories
only after the final bill is paid do i move it to a live status
it also helps in that they get access to assorted links through my login be it print or web so they have links to everything whenever they want it

k77, sorry, but that's a really dumb question :) when you're building something for a client and they're paying you thousands of dollars, they generally like to see that you're actually doing something. you put up a secure client area so they can look at design comps, site architectures, and also work-in-progress areas of their developing product. it's pretty much a good idea that turned into a standard.
